Sirens on Stage
NIGHT EMBASSY is for the community and from the community, and Keychange x Sirens on Stage will present a night of genre-spanning live performances from a diverse group of Berlin-based artists. Leading the night is pop-meets-post-punk Albterine Sarges & the Sticky Fingers, with electro-pop artist Alex St Joan following shortly.
Iceland’s Fever Dream will bring fem-powered horror rap with stories of politics, parties, and the darkness that engulfs Iceland for most of the year. French Caribbean performer and healer Valerie Renay will close the show with an opus full of contrasts and influences that span the full spectrum of human emotions. It’s a night that champions the diversity in the sounds, styles, and personal histories of the city’s artists.
Join us at the NIGHT EMBASSY, our custom-built modular music and art space in the heart of Kreuzberg. The event is a safe space to cultivate communal knowledge and share experiences: Respect is a must, as is open-mindedness.
The event is free of charge, but capacity is limited. Admission is only guaranteed with a digital ticket, so be sure to download yours today to save your spot. The exhibition and bar is open from 18:00 – 23:00 every week day.
About Albertine Sarges & The Sticky Fingers
Pop / Post Punk / Punk
What more do we need to say about the hitherto-rarely-surfaced band Albertine Sarges & The Sticky Fingers other than that their protagonist, Albertine Sarges also happens to be the enchanting lead singer of our beloved Itaca (lifehack: Super Sunday at the Volksbühne)? Well, we could add that the band seems to specialize in the sensual, the pleasurable, and the tasty. Accordingly, their first (and still only!) EP, Shrimp Favour, was released in the form of a package of instant ramen. Contrary to popular belief, The Sticky Fingers bear no relation to the Rolling Stones; rather, they refer quite simply to syrupy, fragrant hands that evidence the recent picking of fresh fruit. The Berlin conglomerate’s lyrics tell further of salmiak, apricot-colored skies, tobacco, and exotic deep-sea fishes. And they only inspire a few low-key stylistic associations (ahem) - the Talking Heads, ESG, Nina Hagen, Laurie Anderson. With The Sticky Fingers, Albertine Sarges has bid the soulful Po Valley "ciao" and, just like that, whipped up a brand new project with a brand new sound. And it only took a handful of tongue-in-cheek bedroom demos for her to wrap us around her little finger yet again. Funky, clever, groovy.
About Alex St Joan
ALEX ST JOAN is the multi-faceted creation of musician, producer, writer and artist Alexia Peniguel. Born next to a fooded valley in drought-prone Australia and raised on Greek myths and disco, she has been based in Berlin since 2004. Her music blends layered vocals and sampled sounds to build melodic, angular compositions delivered with the fair of a 90's chanteuse. If Laurie Anderson, St Vincent and James Blake got together in an underwater cave with a drum machine, a mellotron orchestra and a synthetic saxophone quartet, it might sound something like this.
About Fever Dream
Fem powered Horror Rapper
After having been part of the 20 piece rap clan Reykjavíkurdætur for over 3 years it was time to try making it on her own. Currently Berlin-based, Fever Dream is a fem powered horror rapper from Iceland and published her first EP last September. She collaborates with one of Iceland's top hip hop producers Krabba Mane and Bnger Boy! With her DJ Ragga Holm they put together a show to remember. With fire lyrics about politics, partying and the darkness that comes in Iceland for most of the year, and of course an attitude that you won't forget.
About Valerie Renay
Ethereal Electro / Melodic Dark Pop / Visceral New Wave / Chanson Tribal Punk
Berlin-based French Caribbean performer, healer, artist and electronic pop chanteuse Valerie Renay (one half of Noblesse Oblige) will play songs from her debut solo album “Your Own Shadow” co-produced by Alex Paulick-Thiel (Kreidler). A collection of empowering and ethereal tracks that exude dreamy, dark electronic scents with a visceral twist. An opus full of contrasts, taking the listener through the whole spectrum of human emotions. The stage show is raw and sensual, with Valerie delivering a dramatic and emotionally charged vocal performance. Poignant stories are delivered in English and French over layers of synths, guitar, and hypnotic bass lines, bouncing off bewitching tribal beats. Brutal and soulful at once, each concert can only be described as a ritualistic experience oozing with punk attitude.
