Machine Woman (live)
The NIGHT EMBASSY champions new directions in Berlin’s club culture: Join us for a night of global perspectives curated by CO:QUO with a live performance by Machine Woman, and sets from Clara Cuvé, ketia, Cressida, and Isabassi.
Each performer brings with them stories from around the world: Machine Woman’s gritty experimental techno reflects the ecstasy of clubbing with the loneliness of spending nights in solitude in London or St. Petersburg, while Clara Cuvé’s time in Munich and abroad has expanded her oeuvre to include tastes of techno jungle, electro, and breakbeat. Cressida, ketia, and Isabassi will share their respective artist journeys from behind the decks, opening a dialogue on the dance floor that will last all night.
The party will take place at the NIGHT EMBASSY, our custom-built modular music and art space in the heart of Kreuzberg. The event is a safe space to cultivate communal knowledge and share experiences: Respect is a must, as is open-mindedness.
The event is free of charge, but capacity is limited. Admission is only guaranteed with a digital ticket, so be sure to download yours today to save your spot.
About Machine Woman
Anastasia Vtorova / Machine Woman records gritty experimental techno, lacing minimal rhythms with distortion and unexpected turns. Her music is reflective of the ecstasy of nightlife as well as the loneliness of spending nights in solitude. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, she attended university in London and played in various punk and noise groups. Eventually, she started making solo electronic music, but maintained a rebellious, convention-defying spirit with her work. She has released a few tapes of experimental music starting in 2014, and “For Sweden”, her debut vinyl EP, was issued by Peder Mannerfelt’s eponymous label in late 2015. What followed was “Genau House”, issued by Where to Now? in 2016, and her third vinyl EP “When Lobster Comes Home”, which was released on Technicolour and featuring the revered track “Camile from Ohm Makes Me Feel Loved.”
About Clara Cuvé
Clara Cuvé is a German DJ born in Munich and based in Berlin. Her roots go back to classical piano, in which she was trained since the age of four. Clara’s deep love of music naturally led her to begin accumulating a record collection throughout the years. When she started DJing, her first gigs were all-nighters alongside DJ Hell and other notable names from the scene in Munich. Following her residency at Munich’s Rote Sonne, she became part of the Munich label and event Stock5 before making made her way to Berlin, where she now plays regularly alongside her bookings at clubs throughout Europe. From fast groovy techno to breakbeat, jungle, and electro, Clara plays a broad range of genres, which she combines to make her own harmonies with a focus on groove and dynamics.
About ketia (Kit Ket, mina)
ketia has a new found sense of belonging behind decks and feels very grounded in the underground happenings of Lisbon. With a keen ear for new and exciting music, alongside a curious, ketia has an invested approach to community building within the Lisbon club scene. ketia insists on mixing as many genres as possible with the promise of bangers only. ketia started as coatcheck girl at queer rave mina, where she debuted and became a resident, as well as a tech bitch founder and co-organizer of trans-focused collective Kit Ket. The collective is a subversive crossover between a rave and a house party in an inconsistent sonic narrative with a crystal-clear mission of bringing honesty to the table as a gateway to bliss in raving.
Drawing influence from dubstep, grime, and the harsher sounds lent to strains of metal and hardcore, Cressida originated out of the London underground and has continually developed his own individual style of producing music and DJing.
About Isabassi (Hölle, suspension)
Isabassi is a Brazilian sound composer, DJ, and live performer based in Berlin. With a
taste for the "deconstructed-rhythmical-noise", her music journeys vary widely within the
influences of industrial, breakbeats, dark electro, and experimental. Exploring different shapes of events, she co-founded Hölle, a series of nights where handpoke tattoo and electronic music are combined, and a series that also features monthly curated music podcasts. With several projects over the last two years, her first album “Utterly Prone
To” on Fox & Hound Recordings was released on July 2019, shortly after her debut in Berghain’s Säule. It includes 8 tracks with distorted beats and harsh textures. She had previously released “Tentacular Kinship”, her first compilation on the multi-disciplinary artist platform suspension (Lisbon/Berlin), and made her live debut on suspension’s first showcase night in Berlin.
