NYX: L-vis 1990 & Quest?onmarc + dancers
Throughout our residency MOVE.UNLTD will produce, choreograph and premiere a performance in collaboration with NYX, a brand new project from up and coming ballroom producer Quest?onmarc and club music pioneer L-Vis1990.
Their upcoming album is an autobiographical journey through the light and dark sides of clubland, based on the experiences of Quest?onmarc, reflecting on club culture, the ballroom scene, inner intrigues, violence, homophobia.
Quest?onmarc is the enigmatic triple deck terror hailing from the darkest corner of the rave via NYC. A sonic chameleon, quest?onmarc commands inhibitory submission over dance floors by way of their own hypnotic genre fluid productions and cataclysmic 3-deck dj sets.
Success and influence are fleeting; musicians are often judged as only as good as their last single, mix or party. One figure to not just survive but thrive on this ephemeral landscape is James Connolly, better known as L-Vis 1990. Connolly has been at the forefront of electronic dance music for nearly a decade, leaving his mark in every facet of the game: as a gifted producer, a boundary-pushing DJ and promoter, a forward-thinking co-founder of an influential label “Night Slugs”, a cultivator of new talent, and, increasingly, as an envoy who brings electronic music to new spaces and platforms.
Carmel Köster is a choreographer who draws from a flourishing diversity of influences and interests, and you’re as likely to find her involved in the local Ballroom culture as you are to find her running movement analysis workshops, running the local No Shade DJ Collective or putting together immersive dance performances in her current city of residence, Berlin. Her projects tend to be theatrical, spectacular and deeply personal.
