Berlin’s nightlife is known for its door policies, but there are any number of reason people might not be able to get in on a night out. Some won’t make it past the bouncers; others would prefer to stay in at home. For those with disabilities, however, the list of reasons is even longer.

This discussion will bring to light the experiences and realities of those who are a part of nightlife scenes while also living with disabilities. What are the challenges they face, and how can they be overcome? And what other questions do we need to ask when making accessible spaces?

The panel brings together Ed Greve of GLADT e.V., Will Felix Zante of leidmedien.de, and Annina Zamani of GROSSER WAGEN e.V. This event will be conducted in German as well as German Sign Language.

Prior to the event, we will also be screening Resident Advisor's film A Sonic Pulse, directed by Antoine Marinot and Dorothy Allen-Pickard. The film explores how deaf people experience electronic music, examining multi-sensory experiences.

This event is open to people of all identities, but we ask allies and guests who plan to join this event to be mindful of the purpose of this event, and be aware of any space they may be taking up.

Meet the
ambassador
of this Night

This new ambitious collaboration between DJs Kikelomo and Hoe__Mies focuses on providing a space for people to explore and discuss traditionally taboo topics. Their trademark on making room for those often left dancing on their own, has already left a major mark on the city’s circuit. After all, parties are meant to be shared.

All
About

Jägermeister is proud to present the Berlin Night Embassy scholarship program this fall. After uncovering some of the creative community's most visionary ideas for reinventing Berlin’s nightlife, six Ambassadors with the boldest ideas in the city were chosen.

As Pansy, Ghost, I x No Start No End, Peripheral Intuitions, MOVE.UNLTD, CO:QUO x Digi-Gxl, and Sweetest Taboo, the Ambassadors come from around the world, but share a common love for the city’s nightlife. We’re also giving them a blank canvas to explore their chosen topics and concepts with the support of the NIGHT EMBASSY Creative Board, five renowned figures known for their contributions to Berlin’s club and music culture: Lutz Leichsenring, executive member of the Berlin Club Commission; music journalist Christine Kakaire; Dimitri Hegemann, Berlin club luminary and founder of Tresor; Linnea Palmestal, DJ, activist and founder of women’s, trans and non-binary collective No Shade; and Bernard Koomson, DJ and founder of artist collective deadHYPE. Under the curatorial direction of each ambassador, the NIGHT EMBASSY will also be a public showcase of their work, putting them in charge of a day-to-night program with collaborators and mediums of their choice.

Starting on September 6, they’re given a blank canvas and a two-week residencies in our custom-built modular art and music space in the heart of Kreuzberg to explore new creative directions in Berlin's nightlife through day-to-night programming ranging from workshops, film screenings, performances, and parties, of course.

The NIGHT EMBASSY draws inspiration from both Jägermeister’s own heritage of irreverent perfectionism and the freeform creativity of Berlin’s long-standing nightlife and art scene. As such, Jägermeister welcomes artists based in Berlin from any background, age and level of experience: The NIGHT EMBASSY is open to all bold thinkers committed to bringing their ideas to life. Our selected projects shine a light on new possibilities for artforms connected to club culture, and foster a strong sense of community.

Each residency will be tailored to the experience of its participants. With educational lectures, hands-on workshops and expert guidance to help cultivate their career in the arts and onwards, the program aims to equip each ambassador with the inspiration, technical know-how and practical support to transform their creative practice and redefine Berlin’s nightlife.
